Review of The Pride of the Yankees (1942) by Leighton T — 24 Aug 2009
It's hard to really rate this movie objectively. It's a typical Hollywood biopic of its day, sanctifying Lou Gehrig rather than presenting a "warts and all" picture of its protagonist.
It's sometimes hokey but still fun to watch. Gary Cooper is great as usual, even if he looks really old during the college scenes of Lou Gehrig's life.
