Review of The President's Last Bang (2005) by Noah R — 10 Aug 2011
Comedy relies on tight pacing, and sadly, Sang-soo is so impressed with his directorial skills that he lets his visual style get in the way of the plot. Therefore, while I admire the ballsy approach to the story and while I laughed quite frequently, the film is far too slow and self-indulgent to support the material.
If you're looking for a truly great contemporary satire worthy of comparisons to Dr. Strangelove, check out In the Loop or The Thick of It instead.
