Review of The Postman Always Rings Twice (1946) by Thomaz N — 17 Oct 2007
Granted, there are countless clichés here, but for a good reason: this movie inspired many film noir clichés. A very powerful picture, slightly better than the James Cain novel. Were it not for the weak soundtrack and for Garfield's only average performance, this would be near-perfect.
For all its violence and sensuality, must have been a moral bomb back in the 1940s! But please ignore the version with Jack Nicholson.
