Review of The Postman (1997) by Jeff J — 22 May 2015
Only 9% Really? Critics must be watching another movie, that or they're trying too hard to compare it to the book. Frankly, I think the book sucks. This movie is so much better than the stupid sci-fi book with androids and cyborgs. Though a bit heavy on the patriotism theme, but the story worked well with the ambiance of the theme.
The music and the backdrop is actually somewhat reminiscing of StarCraft. No, really think about it... Behind the StarCraft tech universe is a type of cowboy country background and with the devastation from the Zerg, the population of the backwater colony were very much like the theme set here in this movie.
Olivia Williams is the main attraction of this film, her performance pushed it a knotch higher. Overall a terrific film, parts that makes you cry, makes you awe in wonder, and makes you hate the antagonist.
