Review of The Post (2017) by Claire N — 22 Jan 2018
Some of the reviewers wanted to see this from some other perspective ... but since I remember this very well from 1971, the viewpoint of the publisher, editor and press was really intriquing. It was the point when the press and politicians couldn't be cozy anymore.
It showed a woman coming to terms with her job as publisher and of course, newspaper editors and writers doing what they can do best ... holding the feet of government to the fire for lies. It was well acted, well written and compelling and I knew the ending already.
The atmosphere of a newsroom at that time in history was also well re-created. All in all a suspenseful movie that was fun to watch. The message wasn't too overbearing and the Nixon's real voice on tape rang so true to the times both now and then.
