Review of The Post (2017) by L L — 11 Dec 2017
Good, but the modern feminist gaze of the screenwriters fail to consider how Kay Graham's feminism actually played out. Instead, it whitewashes history and Spielberg insists on telling the audience how to feel with musical cues.
It is definitely not nearly as thoughtful as Spotlight or All The President's Men, but Meryl Streep is excellent and offers a pretty picture of Washington and the noblesse oblige who own, publish, and serve as the top editors.
