Review of The Pool (2001) by Georges D — 31 Aug 2009
"You are just a frustrated Englishwoman who writes about dirty things but who never does them" That line said by Ludivine Sagnier to Charlotte Rampling could be a very good summary of the whole film, which is about the power of fiction and more precisely how a good narration can turn a dull reality into a very exciting sensual thriller.
I had seen that movie when it was released in theatres in 2003 but I must say that seeing it again on DVD was a real pleasure, enhanced by the fact I knew what it was all about. Actually, I would recommend anyone to see that film twice, first to be surprised, and then to enjoy all the details of the unravelling of the story.
And now that I come to think about it... I believe it is after that film that I started writing directly on my laptop instead of my copybooks...
