Review of The Pledge (2001) by Georges F — 02 Oct 2007
Donâ??t let the slow pace of this thriller mislead you into thinking that this is another dull movie made by a sophisticated director. This film has a strong message: If you pledge to do something, how can you be sure that you would choose the best way to do it? What if, for some reason, you are not able to fulfill the pledge? Would this make you a lesser person? Should you fulfill your pledge no matter what? The film events, and especially the unexpected ending, give indirect answers to these questions and leave the conclusions to the viewers.
As usual, Jack Nicholson is the centerpiece of the movie. He is surrounded by a plethora of famous actors in secondary roles.
