Review of The Pledge (2001) by Creme F — 10 Jun 2009
A superb drama with an electrifying performance from the legendary Jack Nicholson. It tells the story of Detective Jerry Black who pledges to catch the killer of a young child. The Pledge is a smart and extremely compelling thriller that is intense and gripping from beginning to end. Actor Sean Penn is not only a fantastic performer, but also an exceptional director. Once you see this film you'll think Penn has been directing since pre-school. Jack Nicholson is incredible. Nicholson gives one of his absolute best performances in this film, he is mesmerizing. Aaron Eckhart, Helen Mirren, and Robin Wright Penn are fantastic in supporting roles. This film is a masterpiece and one of the most compelling films I have ever seen.
The Pledge is an American classic. Its an electrifying thriller that will stay with you long after its over. Jack Nicholson is one of the greatest actors the world has ever seen and he has never given a bad performance. This film is a spectacular and breathtaking achievement.
