Review of The Pledge (2001) by Tom S — 18 Oct 2009
A sombre yet poignant cautionary tale about the futility of good intentions, 'The Pledge' contains Jack Nicholson's best performance since his 1970s heyday. Crisply directed by Sean Penn, the film confounds expectation and reminds us that there are rarely easy answers to life's problems.
Not a film to please the masses, but entirely rewarding nonetheless.
