Review of The Place Beyond the Pines (2013) by Xander K — 17 Dec 2013
Heavy and disjointed. It feels unnecessary to spend the better part of an hour with Luke, then an hour with Avery and then another long time with the kids. One the one hand I get what they were trying to do, but on the other hand it doesn't allow the audience to really sink into a single story.
Also, it's tough when you don't really like or even sympathize with any of the characters.
