Review of The Place Beyond the Pines (2013) by Nic W — 15 Feb 2014
Place Beyond the pines. A young motorcycle stunt rider, Luke (Gosling) realises he needs to earn more money to support his family. Upon taking anew job repairing motors/bikes etc his boss tells him about some bank robberies he committed which puts the idea into his head.
Luke pulls off his first heist with the help of his boss and from then on its plain sailing for him with his trusty motorbike. Things fall apart when he is tracked by local super cop Avery (cooper). Luke is shot on the spot and from then on the focus in the rest of the movie is on Avery and the corrupt team of detectives he works with.
The movie flows excellently and from losing Gosling to gaining Cooper there is enough content to keep up the intense watching. Great acting from the leads and support from Liotta and Mendes. Possibly a little too long but very worthy.
