Review of The Place Beyond the Pines (2013) by Filius S — 17 May 2014
The place beyond the pines is the movie that inexplicably pulls off Ryan Gosling as a genuine bad ass... then kills him after the first act. The story then moves on to the cop who shot him, and for the final act focuses on how the events which transpired affected the children of the two men.
Gosling plays a motorcyclist who becomes a bank thief after discovering he has a son with Eva Mendes. The rest of the story is alright, but mostly inconsequential, as the most likable character is dead.
Nothing too noteworthy aside from that. A pretty good 1/3 of a movie.
