Review of The Pink Panther 2 (2009) by Robert W — 26 Nov 2009

The sequel nobody wanted to the remake nobody needed is much better, but still entirely slight, than it's predecessor. In this movie, Clousseau is shown as actually having some stills, just being awkward in all social type activities.

There's a cute romance between he and his secretary, Nicole. when the dream team met, there's the only big laugh (for me at least) in the movie, when Martin, as Clousseau and Alfred Monlina (I forget his character's name) are squaring against each other in a "better deducing" battle.

Unfortunately, the plot is dumb, plodding, and far, far too predictable. Steve Martin is a comedic genius, when it comes to talking, but he's not really a slapstick kind of guy, plus the physical comedy here is soo broad (or in some cases entirely too unbelievable), and again, the only real laugh for me came during the aforementioned verbal sparring.

Having said all that, the movie was not an atrocity, but simply not needed.
