There is not nearly enough Peter Sellers in this first Pink Panther movie, but his few scenes show why he and not David Niven became the star of the franchise. Long, humorless scenes between Niven's schmoozing con artist and the wealthy Indian princess he hopes to rob sap the movie of its momentum.
