Review of The Pink Panther (1963) by Michael T — 06 Dec 2013
While the combined comic geniuses of Peter Sellers and David Niven cannot be denied, the story they've been pasted to doesn't do them justice. I wonder if Blake Edwards ran into some studio trouble with his other Sellers movie.
Regardless, there are long periods of time where nothing happens. Its very easy to become disinterested entierly. There's no doubt, The Pink Panther is funny, but I wonder if it's worth grinding through the plot.
Edwards basically saves up everything he's got for the last 20 minutes, which had me rolling. The rest of the slapstick humor gets a chuckle or two.
