Review of The Piano Tuner of Earthquakes (2005) by Christopher S — 04 Jun 2009
Live-action feature from the Brothers Quay is, as expected, a visual marvel. A beautifully designed film, they have retained the macabre imagery of their brilliant animations. Unfortunately, the story (and sometimes the cinematography) is murky and at times even incomprehensible - the stylish surrealism is engrossing at times, but often struggles to hold up in long form.
As uneven as it is, it's still a fascinating piece of work.
