Review of The Piano (1993) by Alison M — 01 Aug 2008
Gorgeous cinematography, uplifting score, and wonderful actings from all the actors. A must see for its story and screenplay. Though the film was a little sad and depressing at times, the whole story was uplifting, and somewhat mysterious.
The film was quite poetic, and I enjoyed that very much. Rarely a film could pull that off and not make the audience bored. This film was not boring. It was, in my opinion, well thought out, and Jane Campion did a wonderful job directing this film.
The film's visual has that old fashion feel to it, and it worked well with the film's story and plot about romance. The piece part of the film has to be its magical score! I love the film's main piano score, but the others were right on par.
This film surely deserved its Oscar nominations and win, and Anna Paquin surely deserved her Oscar statue! She was very convincing in this film -- which not a lot of of young actors could pull off: now and then.
Overall, an elegant film, and again, it was made very well. Highly recommend!
