Review of The Pianist (2002) by Ryan F — 24 Apr 2011
A strong portrait of a single human beings life under unthinkable circumstances, with Adrien Brody giving us his best perforance to date. If there is anything I have to complain about, it's the fact that there is very little in this movie that feels fresh.
There have been so many films taking place during WWII and the Holocaust that I now start to feel that I know the settings and emotions by heart. That said, The Pianist is a solid piece with a few intensely powerful scenes - such as the piano scene with the nazi officer.
In spite of the recurring theme, there be greatness to find here.
