Review of The Pianist (2002) by Vineeth P — 25 Sep 2012
The Pianist is a 2002 biographical war drama based off the memoirs of Polish musician W?adys?aw Szpilman directed by Roman Polanski. The movie goes through 5 years of Wladyslaw's life as he tries to survive Nazi German occupation. Historical WWII movies like this are always interesting to me, this one more so.
There is not a negative thing I can say about this movie, it is perfect in every way. I am surprised it only won three of the four 2003 Oscars it was nominated for.
This movie is graphic to say the least, as it depicts the true brutality of the Nazi's during World War II. This movie had me talking to the screen as it played out, and left me saddened as I watched a re-enactment of one of the most horrible times in human history.
If you enjoy WWII pictures, especially those based on fact like Schindler's List, you will absolutely LOVE The Pianist. Adrian Brody was marvelous in this film, as he played the lead role with perfection.
I can not stress enough, WATCH THIS MOVIE!
