Review of The Pianist (2002) by Kija P — 26 Oct 2013
From Roman Polanski comes the hard hitting film based on a true story of a Jewish Polish pianist who and his struggles under Nazi rule and their anti-racial laws. The movie comes across as stunningly beautiful but also brutally violent, refusing to spare us from the real terrors of the concentration camp.
A dark film made of constant tension keeping us on the edge of our seats, the film is sublime and heartbreaking and perhaps one of the films on the holocaust that comes across as the most genuine. Sublime and beautiful; unforgettable for those who will see it.
Adrien Brody is magnificent in the lead role.
