Review of The Philadelphia Story (1940) by Lyzette G — 05 Feb 2011
My, my, what a classic! If the story alone doesn't draw you in, then the wonderful acting jobs definitely will.
The Philadelphia Story stars three of Hollywood's most prestigious players, and they are all truly amazing, as always. I was most impressed with Cary Grant's performance; he has so much spunk and is just so great on screen in general. Altogether, the dialogue is just so witty, and really draws in the magnetism between each character.
Some movies can be described as more of a "hit-or-miss" type. In my personal opinion, The Philadelphia gets the bullseye. There really is never a dull moment, and the film contains an perfect equilibrium of romance and humor. This is a must-see for any fan of classic films, or those of the romantic comedy genre. Definitely not a movie to miss out on!
