Review of The Phantom of the Opera (2004) by Matt B — 09 Apr 2015
It's very flawed, I know. It's too long, oftentimes boring, Gerard Butler is too handsome to play the Phantom, and the film totally lacks the sheer romantic aspect of the musical. Yet what it doesn't lack is spectacle, absolutely gorgeous music, and an awe-inspiring performance from 17 year old Emmy Rossum.
For those reasons alone, I enjoyed the movie a lot.
