Review of The Phantom of the Opera (1925) by Carol W — 13 Jan 2008
I finally saw this silent classic. It was longer than I expected, but it was very well done. It starts off slow, but once the Phantom appears it really gets going. I loved the scene with the hanging guy's shadow on the wall, that was cool, and the part where the Phanom's mask is taken off was great.
Chaney ruled and I thought he was creepier with the mask on, or rather, after his real face was revealed, he was creepier with the mask back on.
