"So long pal, I'll be seeing you!" A brutal and demented film in which most of the characters are just awful toward each other; they spit bile back and forth without a wink or a pause. And that's before Bogie's escaped convict takes them hostage! Leslie Howard is perfectly "intellectual" and the inevitable collision with Bogie's gangster provides for amazing tension.
