Perks of Being a Wallflower Review.

Guys I think I just broke my feels bone.

Perks of Being a Wallflower is based on the critically acclaimed novel of the same name and the movie is directed by the same person who wrote the book. Which doesn't happen much in movies I think its only happened a few times. So I must say that I was entertained 100% of the movie. I can't put my finger on what genre they really call this and I don't want to say dramedy because I feel as if it should be something else but I love the types of movies that can go to into a feel good mood to just completely serious in a second which is why I like movies like Forrest Gump so much compared to others and this movie is one of those films. Perks is about an emotionally distant freshmen named Charlie who deals with almost a PTSD type of situation along with dealing with having no friends. Charlie beings the next step of his life when he enters high school for the first time. Charlie isn't nessicarily social awkward he just doesn't have any friends. He ends up meeting a group of seniors that take him under there wing and they change his life forever. One of these seniors is named Patrick and he is played by Ezra Miller and he is somewhat of a comedic relief but he also plays a pretty major role in the film when it turns into a more of a serious story you really feel bad for the guy. Another senior he meets is Sam, Played by the movie really focuses on there relationship more then anything else. You'd figure that the story would be another cliche hush school teen bulling or crappy relationship but instead the movie feels extremely real, as someone who never read the book, because I don't read I thought that this movie was based on a true story which its not it just feels really real and it does tackle some tougher situations that I didn't expect out of this movie but when the movie isn't on these tougher segments its a really nice feel good movie to watch. Percy Jackson damn Percy Jackson did damn good in this movie. His real name is Logan Lerman and his performance in this movie deserved at least an oscar nomination but sadly it didn't. Emma Watson plays Sam in the movie and this is pretty much her first really good movie after harry Potter and I can see a bright future ahead of her in the acting world. Ezra Miller plays Patrick and I believe he should have gotten an oscar nod at least for his acting job as well the supporting cast does good enough to make the movie keep going but their performances are nothing special compared to the main cast. The fact of the matter is Charlie basically only has one year with his new friends since they graduate at the end of the year which its nice to see a story like this that can tackle some tough situations that a lot of teens have today and a lot of people will be able to relate to the film in the long run. I really loved the soundtrack in the film as well, this took place back in the 90s so people didnt have iPods or phones to listen to there music on so people would have to make mix tapes for them. Not sure what it is about the film but it has a some sort of unique touch the directing and writing a both done to a fine toon and it makes the movie feel so good to watch the pacing helps the movie very well the pacing is so perfect and when it got towards the end I didn't want the movie to end. The thing about Perks of being a Wallflower that makes it feel different to most movies like this today is that it feels real along with putting in some good jokes here and there it stays in a pretty safe zone and the movie knows what it is. Again by the end of the movie I didn't want it to end I didn't want to leave these characters behind which not very many movies can do that to me to tell you the truth. You normally get between one and three movies like this a year that their so good that they deserve to be on a list of greatest movies of all time. This is one of them. This is probably my favorite movie of 2012 the preforances and plot are a stand out for a "teen" movie I absolutely enjoyed every second of this movie beginning to end I hate giving this to two movies in a row but I'm going to give Perks of Being a Wallflower a 10/10.
