Review of The Perks of Being a Wallflower (2012) by Donna T — 23 Nov 2013
The actors make the film. Otherwise there was a lot not to like about it, including some of the worst film editing I think I've ever seen. But give the film a chance. It tells an important story. The crux of the matter a bit unbelievable.
But then, truth is often stranger than fiction. So this author we must presume wrote about himself. Actually, the film and it's precociousness make much more sense after learning its background. This is an object lesson in why an individual too close to a novel should not write the screenplay or make the film.
The thing implodes. But, I still liked it for its sweet spirit. Could have done without Rocky Horror interludes. Those were simply bizarre. Not the kids from Pittsburgh I went to college with 70s 80s never.
