Review of The Perfect Host (2010) by Ben B — 19 Oct 2011
"The Perfect Host" starts out very intriguing, riding a great performance by David Hyde Pierce. The pieces are put in place and there is more than enough mystery and uncomfortableness to keep you on the edge of your seat.
Unfortunately, as the twists get piled on, the film descends into absurdity. The final act of the film contains way too many moments that simply do not make any sense for both the characters as well as believability that things would play out as they do.
A strong effort was made for most of the movie to hook the audience, and for that it's a mild success. Unfortunately the weak climax will leave a sour taste in your mouth and will take away much of the enjoyment for many.
Score: 6/10.
