Review of The Perfect Host (2010) by Patrick M — 27 Dec 2011
Not since "Mr. Brooks" have I seen a better psychological thriller. It had me guessing until the very end. The comedic flashes came when I least expected them, and David Hyde Pierce was so perfectly cast, it's as if the role was written for him.
I was blown away by both this film, and it's bad reviews. Really, totally baffled by the reviews. Yes, there were a lot of plot twists and turns, but all well-written, and they all *work*, like a giant interlocking puzzle. I was a big fan of Hitchcock, but his stories were mundane and predictable compared to Nick Tomnay's writing.
