I do feel like, most of these stalker thriller films are starting to have that clichà (C) checklists that we all seen before. The Perfect Guy is no different from any other stalker thriller films, it does have those clichà (C)s, the story is dull, and there is no suspense to even make the film worth watching. Films like The Boy Next Door, and other lifetime movie channels that they already have done, already makes this film a bit predictable. Yes, we have that vulnerable character like Leah (Sanaa Lathan), after a sudden break up with her long time boyfriend Dave (Morris Chestnut), cause he has trouble wanting to settle down with having kids. Leah, she is a successful lobbyist, and has supportive girlfriends, until she meets this guy Carter (Michael Ealy) at a coffee shop and all of a sudden again at the bar. Carter slowly goes on a date with Leah, being gentlemen and seeming to be the perfect guy. Leahâ(TM)s friends love him, and her parents adore him. Then, at a stop at the gas station, Carter assaults a fan boy that wanted to take a picture of his classic muscle car. Carterâ(TM)s, nice personality, slowly becomes aggressive and starts stalking Leah. After she ends their relationship, her life turns upside down, when he is in every corner, every phone call, and he sees her every move.

The plot is predictable and dull; it does feel a little longer than it should. Like some scenes that needed to be trimmed, when Leah and her boss at her job were having a late night talk about taking chances with relationship. The scene felt out of place, even though, it was showing Leahâ(TM)s vulnerability about wanting to fall in a relationship again. The film was also lacking any suspense, it tried to show more of a creepy tone like when Carter was sneaking in Leahâ(TM)s house; as he placed cameras around, licking her toothbrush, feeling her clothes, hiding in her closet or underneath her bed. Michael Ealy and Morris Chestnut did give flat performances. Sanaa Lathan was the only one decent in the film. The Perfect Guy is a horrible thriller film, that follows the redundant clichà (C)s making it a boring movie.
