Why did I even bother posting my review for "The Perfect Guy". It doesn't have an original bone in it's body and I'm tired of seeing actors like Sanaa Lathan, Michael Ealy and Morris Chestnut playing second-class characters in a lame movie like this. Why can't they find good scripts in Hollywood anymore? That's because their agents are totally incompetent. "The Perfect Guy" is not the perfect movie for you. It's a movie you have seen countless times before. It's so lazy and worthless, "The Perfect Guy" is not even good enough to be a campy B-movie.

After spending most of her adult life dating other men, successful lobbyist Leah Vaughn (Lathan) is finally ready to start a family with boyfriend Dave King (Chestnut). Unfortunately, Dave is not ready for parenthood so his refusal to commit causes Leah to break up with him. A few months later, she meets a true charmer named Carter Duncan (Ealy). He works in IT with another big company and when he goes to San Francisco to celebrate the birthday of Leah's father, Roger (Charles S. Dutton), Carter gives him two tickets to a big MLB playoff game. WOW! This guy is too good to be true!

However, the course of the relationship changes when they stop at a gas station. A stranger asks Leah if he can take a picture of Carter's Dodge Charger but Carter steps in and viciously beats him up. Distraught over the incident, Leah puts a pause on their relationship. Does Carter try to find a new girlfriend? Nope! Carter continues to harass and stalk Leah everywhere she is. Despite filing a restraining order at Carter, he simply won't give up.

Listen Carter, she is frightened by you because you almost beat a man to death. Let me recall the events for you Carter, the guy only wanted to take a picture of your Dodge Charger, that's all he wanted. If you really want to win Leah back, just apologize to the man from the gas station and stop being a creep to her. Some time later, Dave phones Leah about starting over again and she agrees to go out with him. Meanwhile, Carter continues to up the ante, he follows Leah to a restaurant which causes a fuss between him and Dave, he kidnaps her cat, he hacks into her email account, he secretly videotapes her and Dave having sex and even murders her next door neighbor, Mrs. McCarthy (Tess Harper).

We later find out from the police detective (Holt McCallany) that Carter's real name is Robert Adams and Leah demands him to arrest Carter for breaking into her house but he doesn't have enough evidence to charge him so she decides to take matters into her own hands. All I can say about "The Perfect Guy" is, How Original!

The acting is terrible, the screenplay is cliched, over-the-top and predictable, and the melodrama is right on par with an Lifetime movie. A thriller needs to have tension, a smart screenplay, competent direction, compelling performances and a sense of danger and menace, this movie has none of those things. "The Perfect Guy" is a completely by-the-numbers thriller. Skip this "Fatal Attraction" retread at all costs!
