Review of The People vs. Larry Flynt (1996) by Christopher W — 02 Sep 2007
I thought this would be something tacky like showgirls or striptease but got dragged along to see it. I'm glad I did as it's a very good film. It's actually the true story of Larry Flynt and his fight for the freedom to sell pornography.
His attempted murder, drug addiction, finding God, personal tragedy, and a freedom of speech case in the supreme court all make this true tale one worth following. Edward Norton stands out as his clever lawyer.
Interestingly the real Larry Flynt appears in the movie - as the judge who sends him to prison for obscenity.
