Review of The People vs. George Lucas (2010) by Jason R — 25 Apr 2012
The fans get the spotlight in THE PEOPLE VS. GEORGE LUCAS. Which is an often funny and crudely put together film. Mixed with fan videos, archived footage, and a very odd mix of interviews.
Lucas is judged, rather harshly. For his highly criticized re-imaginings or re-edits, of the much beloved Star Wars Trilogy. But at the heart of the film, is the general consensus that he created something so genuine, unique, and inspiring. That despite all the misgivings from the fans, about what Lucas has done to the Star Wars films. He is and probably will forever be, one of the most influential filmmakers of all-time.
The film effectively lays out all the evidence as to why. Lucas has done bad, by the fans. But, it also showcases the many creative ways he has positively made a difference in the lives, of those who love the Star Wars films.
Overall, this is a very well put together love/hate letter to George Lucas. It is sure to stir up debate or make you laugh and as a fan of this particular work. It should do just that. Everyone is a critic, and something that is as loved, as STAR WARS. Is most certainly gonna be held in the most highest regard.
THE PEOPLE VS. GEORGE LUCAS, serves as a blueprint on how to be a "true" STAR WARS fan. Yes, you can bitch about the special editions and THE PHANTOM MENACE, all you want. But, at the end of the day. Respect the man, his vision, and the wonderful films he has made. What is most important here is that these films exist. That they have and will continue to inspire and In whatever form they appear on. They will be around for a very, very long time.
