Review of The People Under the Stairs (1991) by Dave J — 04 Oct 2010
A very underrated Wes Craven extravaganza. It falls somewhere between the madness of "Hills Have Eyes" and the sadistic nature of "Last House on the Left".Much like "Candyman" it exploits the hardships of the Hood and has the various stereotypes present.
Ving Rhames plays the very outrageous Farrakhan like character that is only concerned with gold and pussy. It has the shortcomings of a direct to video feature, but it still has the Wes Craven touch.
