Review of The Pebble and the Penguin (1995) by Robert T — 13 Mar 2008
One of the better offerings from Don Bluth and his animation studio! Though it wasn't on par with this previous efforts, ie: "The Land Before Time," this film did delivered some great memories when I viewed it as a young child! I used to own this film on VHS a long time ago, but my mother had to returned it, and my brother and I were sad for days! The film was quite enjoyable and entertaining from start to finish.
And yes I have to agree with some of the reviewers, this film was, and still is, underrated. This was definitely the first penguin movie targeted to a family-audience. The film's animation was done quite well, and it still kept that Don Bluth style of lush animation that you would not see in any Disney films, and the film's musical sequences were fun.
Overall, the film was done very well, and it is so sad that film is so underrated. Though I wasn't that surprised when this film came out in theaters a couple of weeks apart from another Disney film, "Pocahontas.
