Review of The Peanuts Movie (2015) by Éric I — 19 Dec 2015
The film brings nothing new to the table except for the Peanuts characters' transition into 3D animation. However, the film is based on a comic strip that run uninterrupted for fifty years and in which its characters had their personalities almost entirely drawn out from the very first moment they first appeared in print; bringing something 'new' might have been downright dangerous.
Instead, the film brings out what everyone has come to expect from the Peanuts characters, highlighting each of their unique aspects, taking advantage of the most familiar and ever-present gags, and does so in a way that feels fresh, adapting to a whole new generation without really changing a thing.
