Review of The Peanuts Movie (2015) by Linda C — 26 Dec 2015
There is a whole generation of children out there right now who have been raised on Superhero or comic book movies. When I was child the trend was there unfortunately the results were often mixed for every Blade there was The Phantom, for every Batman there was The Shadow. Good films mixed with Turkeys. Then the comic boom happened at the end of the 20th Century in the year 2000 X-Men paved the way and today we get around up to three or four superhero movies in one year guaranteed depending on how many studios are putting their films out.
You may ask what the point of stating the obvious is, well my point is that before the boom there was a generation of children born in the late 70s, the 1980s and possibly the early 1990s, who were raised on quality cartoons. One such cartoon was Charlie Brown based on The Peanuts comic strip.
So over 30 years later Charlie Brown and the peanuts gang are given their just rewards with quite frankly what is a masterpiece of nostalgia and one of the best animated films if not best films of the year.
The gang is all back and most if not all get their due, remember Lucy giving psychiatric advice, well it's here charlie brown attempting to kick an American Football only for Lucy to pull it away that's here to, Linus and his blanky.
It's all here and it's joy to behold. There is very little action in this movie out with Snoopy's fantasy scenes and even they are genuinely entertaining.
Unfortunately today's children may end up being bored by this film due to the lack of things going boom, but those children who are more inclined will have fun. In the end a film which will appeal to both adults and children if they let it.
