Review of The Pawnbroker (1965) by Stewart S — 09 Apr 2008
8.0.
Complex movie with complex character which bravely tackles a large number of social issues in a period before such was socially acceptabnle. Superlative acting by the lead and supporting cast especially rodrigues. Intense character analysis. Interracial relationships, nudity in film, homosexuality, materialism, post traumatic stress, and Jewish persecution in Nazi death camps.
Only forthose who appreciate serious movie analysis.
