Review of The Patriot (2000) by Kent L — 13 Dec 2013
Easily Roland Emmerich's best film with great production values and a story of revenge you can really get behind! Mel Gibson is great as the sympathetic farmer who's forced to return to the frontlines and fight for his freedom, though it's not too different from his role in Braveheart.
The film does a great job setting up the British as despicable villains and Jason Isaacs really gets under your skin throughout. Though not historically accurate, it's very entertaining and it shouldn't be judged so harshly.
