Review of The Passion of the Christ (2004) by Matthew H — 11 Sep 2012
The thing about Passion of the Christ is that without the 'passion' it's nothing but an overly bloody film about a guy getting tortured in various ways whilst surrounded by people who attempt to deliver 'epic' lines of dialogue.
There is a passion in Gibson's passion film. The passion is there, but it's the only thing worth taking note of. The rest of the film suffers in its own bloody work of horribly developed and absent characters, random and unnecessary lines of dialogue, and a plot that hardly seems to cover more than one hour or so of the man's life (probably due to the misguided pacing).
