Review of The Passion of the Christ (2004) by Bill C — 31 Mar 2013
Director Mel Gibson occasionally offers us some inventive film-craft, but little else beyond a trivium of the most elementary Christian doctrine. For all of this posing, posturing and rhetoric, we remain no closer to any truer reconciliation of our faith.
It is by no accident that Easter signals the beginning of spring and with it a solemn promise of hope, rebirth and the joy of Eastertide. This bleak film promises nothing.
