While there are moments of brilliance and beauty in this film, the majority of it is spent watching Jesus being beaten, collapse and bleed out onto the ground. This movie could've asked hard questions and been a powerful film, but instead it masks whatever weak message it tries to convey with a bloody, brutal, excruciating exterior.
