In spite of extremely violent and gory content, The Passion of the Christ serves as a successful film in terms of passionately portraying the final hours of Jesus Christ's life. In my point of view, the message that the film conveys is courage; Jesus never gave up His goal despite all the torture He went through in order to enhance the world with forgiveness.
