The Party is Blake Edwards at his best, a situational comedy starring Peter Sellers whose character is basically the spiritual predecessor to Robert Downey Jr's in Tropic Thunder. Donning dark eastern skinned make up and a ridiculous accent he bumbles through the night creating catastrophe after catastrophe and the result is a hilarious spectacle and gem of a film.
This film uses silent comedy and setting perfectly to its advantage and creates a relaxed but wickedly funny atmosphere.
