Review of The Parallax View (1974) by Jesse M — 20 Jun 2009
An assassination atop Seattle's Space Needle sets this gripping 1974 conspiracy thriller in motion. Warren Beatty plays a determined journalist who unravels layer after layer of a secret security firm that is removing witnesses from that fateful days events.
Beatty's journalist is one such witness, who begins to feel his own life in danger as well. With skillful direction from Alan J. Pakula and detailed camerawork from Gordon Willis, this is a production that echoes class.
Aside from some moments of pure 70's cheese ( a campy bar fight, a car smashing through a grocery store window) this film will keep it's grip firmly around ones throat.
