Review of The Parallax View (1974) by Scott C — 12 Sep 2012
I wasn't too far into this 1974 political conspiracy thriller before I began regretting not having seen this movie until now. That being said, I am a sucker for the genre and I can see many being turned off by the final scene that was arguably more of a bad trip than cutting edge (for the time) filmmaking.
The director, Pakula, also directed All The Presidentâ??s Men, but this film had much less mass appeal despite using Beatty in the starring role. I thought it was somewhat odd how the film resembled The Manchurian Candidate so much, but that didn't affect my enjoyment one bit.
And, if you are looking for comparisons, the similarities between the story and conspiracy theoristsâ?? assumptions about JFK's assassination are unmistakable.
