Review of The Paradine Case (1947) by Michael E — 14 Aug 2008
A good mystery with some psychological aspects that keep you wondering the circumstances behind Col. Paradines death. Gregory Peck is defending Mrs. Paradine (Alda Valli) who is accused of murder. The best parts of the film are Peck dealing with the tension between his wife and his client.
This is overall a satisfying mystery drama but a little disappointing due to the fact that its directed by the master of suspense himself Alfred Hitchcock and should have been a lot better if it not for always imposing Selznick the producer.
Although talks of a "Hitchcock directors cut" is due out on dvd in Oct. So it might be best to wait for that version and see it the way Hitch did.
