Review of The Paper (1994) by Joe C — 24 Nov 2009
Really really funny drama that captures the essence of a newsroom perfectly. The only main critisism is that the maguffin of the kids on the murder charge is not utilised enough and come the end of the film is next to forgotten about ( a scene of them being freed wouldnt have gone astray) because we are of course more intrested in michael keatons character and his sense of closure.
The film is quite serious with funny parts thrown in until the last half hour when everything descencds into chaos, yet strangely this only adds to general appeal of the film. This is underated top notch stuff and I suggest if you havnt seen it you search it out and do so.
