Review of The Painted Veil (2006) by Bill P — 30 Sep 2008
This is strictly an artsy film. The music is gorgeous, the scenery is beautiful, the story is lovely. Very good when you view it like that. The performances were great and unexpected. Norton is fantastic once again; he never ceases to amaze me.
It didn't seem at first as if he could pull off this kind of role but never see it past Mr. Norton. Naomi Watts is less liked by me in this one than any others. She's not blonde, she's not naked haha.
But seriously, she does a good job though. The only thing wrong with this movie is just the story. It's not a bad story but it was quite slow and not very eventful. I enjoyed the idea of going into marriage unprepared and separating but getting to shot at redemption.
Really a good thought but it just didn't seem to work out. This movie is good but, again, seems to be good strictly in an artistic viewpoint.
