Review of The Painted Veil (2006) by Donald L — 28 Feb 2010
An uncommon love story, where marriage occurs first, then infidelity and hatred, and finally love. While a bit melodramatic at a few points, the overall presentation is genuine and by the end I was engaged in the character's and their lives. As a person who really enjoys love stories that are out of the norm, this movie pleasantly surprised me in a lot of ways. I wouldn't recommend it for the average movie goer (who would likely have issue with the laid back pacing) but I definitely loved it.
Finally, let me say that the color and landscape in this movie are beautiful. Apparently I need to go to China at some point cause it just always seems they get the best outside shots there.
